Noni Bacci Winery near the Beach

This winery is located on the southern coast of North Carolina and is a great place to pick up a your new favorite bottle of wine before heading to the beach. Why do I say your new favorite!!! Well... The wines at Noni Bacci Winery have won over 57 awards at the Finger Lake International Wine Competition. This is the largest wine competition in North America with wines from all over the USA and other countries entering, so you know there's pretty stiff competition and the winning wines are no powder puffs as you may find at small competitions.

And there's also a humongous selection of wines at this winery.

Noni Bacci Winery is located in the city of Wilmington NC and you will find this establishment in a small strip mall. Some people have comment that this is a weird location for a winery but once they walk inside they love the atmosphere.

The winery is only about 2 or 3 miles from the the ocean and the beach. The nearest beach is Wrightsville beach which is only about a two mile drive from the beach to this winery. And it is also only about a 10 mile drive from Carolina beach. If you ever take a trip to visit Mansonboro Island this winery is also nearby the island. There are many great places to visit that are near Noni Bacci Winery. The Cape Fear area is nearby. So if you love wine and are visiting any place nearby this winery is worth checking out on your way.

Benjamin Vineyards NC on the Haw River

If you love great tasting wine and you're driving along highway 87 or highway 54 near Chapel Hill, North Carolina you may want to stop in at Benjamin Vineyard and winery a family owned and operated establishment. Not only will you find great North Carolina wines here but the setting, on the banks of the Haw River is absolutely beautiful. And the owners are really very nice, this is a great place to relax.

This winery consists of a wine tasting or hospitality room, a very beautiful outdoor setting and a nice little gift shop where you can purchase some very unique items.

Also, if you're a person who is interested in North Carolina wine trails, you may want to check out the Haw River wine trail.

Benjamin winery is just one of the fine wineries you will visit while participating on this trail.

Their hours are Thursday-Sunday from Noon to 5 pm.

The wine selection consists of 12 tempting different wines. You will find both dry whites and reds. You will also find semi-sweet whites and a couple very good dessert wines. And what would a North Carolina Winery be without muscadine wines?

So yes, if you're searching for a great selection of muscadine wines Benjamin Vineyards does have a selection of this wine variety. They currently have 5 different muscadines, ranging from sweet to semi-sweet to semi dry. They have an award winning Scuppernong that you need to try if you visit.

And if you find a wine here that you absolutely love, the great thing is their wines are sold at many different stores locations in the area. There's also a few restaurants in North Carolina that have their wines on the wine list.

My personal favorite at this vineyard is a white wine call Norton, this is a great fruit forward drink that goes excellent with Italian foods or other spicy dishes.

This winery can also be rented out for private parties such as: Birthdays, weddings, family reunions.

You will also find events going on throughout the year.

Raleigh Winery Options

If you're in Raleigh NC and considering visiting a winery you have many different options to choose. Near Raleigh there are wineries with great wines, food, entertainment and events. Some of these nearby wineries are better than others, some you may only find great wines but there are a few wineries in the area that offer the best of all worlds (wines, food, entertainment, events).

As far as I know, I have visited every winery in the area, probably withing a 40 miles radius. So hopefully my suggestions and the following information I give can help you in your decision on what's is the best winery in the Raleigh are.  At least according to my tastes.

Within reasonable driving distance from the city you have about 13 or maybe 14 different wineries to choose from.

Nothing against any of these wineries but I will only give you my top three choices:

1. Hinnant Family Vineyards - Located in Pine Level NC about 25 miles southeast of Raleigh and would be the first winery I would head to if I were in the area. This place is extremely beautiful and has some very good wines. I suggest you try their wine named "Noble" it's my favorite. The wine tasting is about $5 and the pouring is very generous  The winery also offers many great events and the atmosphere is really nice.

2.  Vineyards at Southpoint - this is another very good option near Raleigh and is located about 20 miles northwest of the city. They produce one of my favorite Merlot here and if you happen to be looking for a dessert wine they have 4 delicious ones to choose from. If you are interested in events centered around wine and food pairing then you should really enjoy the events at this winery.

3. Gregory Vineyards - located 15-20 miles south of the city in Angier NC. If muscadine wines are what you have the taste for, you will find 7 award winning muscadine wines at Gregory Vineyards. Not all of these are sweet, they do have a couple dry and semi dry muscadines. The food here is worth the trip alone. Form time to time this winery puts on some decent events.

These three I have listed are all very good winery options near Raleigh.

Have you ever had mead? If you are interested in tasting mead, there is also a very good meadery in the area by the name Starrlight Mead in Pittsboro NC. Great choices in mead here.

December 2012 Events at Cloer Family Winery

Located just west of Raleigh, in the city of Apex NC is the charming family owned and operated winery named Cloer Family Winery. This is a warm and welcoming place and visiting will surely leave a positive impression on your day.

Not only will you find great wines here but if you're also interested in events at wineries this 2012 Holiday season you may find a couple interesting ones at this family owned winery.

December 13th - A 60 minute Yoga class named, "Yoga in the vines". The class starts at 6:30 pm. This is a regular event at the winery. The second Thursday of every month. Bring a friend and a mat yogi is a great way to relax!!!

There's a $15 fee but learning yogi is a skill you can take with you for a lifetime.

Starting at 1:00 pm on each of the listed dates below, there will be a Holiday shopping event at Cloer Family winery, "Sip-N-Stroll". The purpose of this event is to help you get your Holiday shopping done in a fun environment.

There will be loads of different vendors at this event, making it so easy to find the perfect gift. I would imagine it is also much more enjoyable doing your xmas shopping in such a comfortable place compared to the crowds and holiday rush you find in the stores. This winery is also on the Heart of NC Wine Trail and is one of the more talked about wineries on the trail. 

Silver Coast Winery -2013 Bridal Show

Will you soon be planning a wedding? Maybe someone you know, a friend or your daughter will soon be getting married and will need start their wedding planning? Are you located near Wilmington, NC? Wineries make very nice weddings venues and there are many to choose from in North Carolina, there's bound to be at least one located nearby. 

Shelton Vineyards brings in the New Year 2013

Bring in 2013 at a great North Carolina Winery. On December 31, 2012, Shelton Vineyards in Dobson, North Carolina will be holding a New Years eve Celebration at their Harvest Grill. This is sure to be a great night and what else is great about this, you don't have to worry about driving, there's a Hampton Inn basically located on the grounds of Shelton Vineyards...

Actually, you will not even have to walk, there will be a shuttle that will take you right to the hotel.

So after the celebration at the grill, where there will be delicious foods and wines all you will need to do is walk, not drive to your room at the Hampton Inn, it's that close.

If you're not sure where the city of  Dobson is located, it's just a bit North of Winston Salem. If you know you will be in the Winston Salem area during New Years and would like to be at a great celebration but have no idea where to find one, then you really need to check out what is being planned at Shelton Vineyards for New Years Eve.

What will be offered at the Shelton's Vineyards Harvest Grill     

Besides a lot of great people and entertainment... 

There will be a great dinner served at the Harvest Grill that includes: Appetizers, salad, an entree and dessert. The food at the Harvest Grill is prepared by professional chefs and is always a great place to dine.  

I have taken a look at the menu that is planned for the event and it looks delicious: Lobster tails, Filet Mignon, Rosemary Whipped Potatoes. All the food looks absolutely delicious. And for dessert the will be plenty of chocolate.    

There will also be specials on bottles of wine!!! A midnight toast with your sweetheart or friends, a night full of dancing and a professional DJ.     

But what about in the morning when you wake? Shelton Vineyards will take care of you in the morning with a great breakfast. Eggs, bacon, home fries, biscuits, gravy and more.
